Firefighter Shanks began his career at the Carrollton Fire Department in April 2008. 

Prior to coming to Carrollton Fire Department, firefighter Shanks attended the Georgia Fire Academy the month of September 2007. While at the academy, firefighter shanks received his NPQ1, HAZ-MAT awareness and NIMS 100. Firefighter Shanks is also certified in Crash Vehicle Extraction, and is currently a First Responder. 

Firefighter Shanks has some previous fire experience volunteering with Carroll County Fire Department and was employed with the Haralson County Fire Department. 

Firefighter Shanks is a member of the Georgia Fire Fighters Association.
